The rest of this page exists to prove that sentence feature by feature, and to explain the one narrow case where an optional feature talks to Apple's services.
What the app stores, and where
Everything Mishkah knows lives in plain JSON files inside the app's private container on your device: your settings (calculation method, Asr madhhab, saved city, per-prayer alert choices, appearance), tasbih counts, your Quran reading position, and any excused-days windows you set. The app's own widgets and Watch app read the same container through an Apple App Group; no copy exists anywhere else.
- Export:
Settings > About > Export my datashares that data as a single readable JSON file, so you can see exactly what exists. - Delete:
Settings > About > Delete everythingremoves it all. Because there is no server copy, deletion is final and immediate. - Retention: data is retained only on your device, only until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Backups: like any iOS app, your device's iCloud or computer backup may include the app's files, under Apple's backup protections and your own backup settings.
Location
Mishkah asks for location permission with the "while using the app" scope only, to compute prayer times, the Qibla bearing, and the position of the sun and moon in the sky scene. All of that math runs on your device.
Location is optional. If you decline, you can type any city instead and everything works the same way. The app never sends your coordinates to the developer; there is no server to send them to.
The one place data leaves the phone: Apple services
A few optional conveniences hand a query to Apple's services, the same ones the built-in Maps app uses. These requests go to Apple, are governed by Apple's privacy policy, and are never visible to the developer:

Camera
The optional camera Qibla finder shows a live viewfinder with an arrow drawn on top. The feed is displayed, never captured: no photos or video are taken, stored, analyzed, or transmitted. Deny the camera permission and the compass Qibla works fully without it.
Notifications and the athan
Prayer reminders and the athan are local notifications, scheduled on your device from times your device computed. There is no push server and no remote notification capability. Each prayer's alert can be set to silence, vibrate, or athan, per prayer, and the schedule updates only on your device.
What Mishkah never does
- No analytics, telemetry, or crash-reporting SDKs. Not minimized: none.
- No advertising, ad identifiers, or tracking of any kind (the app's
PrivacyInfomanifest declares zero tracking domains and zero collected data types). - No third-party SDKs at all; the app is built only on Apple's frameworks.
- No accounts, sign-in, or profiles.
- No selling, sharing, or monetizing data. There is nothing to sell.
Children
Mishkah is suitable for general audiences and collects no data from anyone, including children. No parental-consent flow is needed because no personal information is ever gathered.
Your rights
Under GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws you can ask a developer to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data. Mishkah holds none of it: your data sits on your device, where the built-in export and delete tools already give you those rights directly, without asking anyone. If you have any question about this, email and you will get a real answer.
Changes to this policy
If a future version changes any of the above (for example, an optional iCloud sync), this page will be updated first, with a new effective date and a note of what changed, and the App Store privacy labels will be updated to match. The current version always lives at this address.
